Barack Obama was born as Barack Hussein Obama II on August 4, 1961. He is the current and 44th President of the United States and the first Afro-American to reach this high office. He has earlier served as the United States junior Senator from Illinios.

He occupied this post from January 2005 till the put in his papers after being successfully elected to the presidency in November 2008. Obama had his education from Harvard Law School and Columbia University. At Harvard Law School, he presided over the Harvard Law Review. Before joining law school he was working in Chicago as a community organizer. He was also a lecturer at the University of Chicago Law School where he taught constitutional law from 1992 to 2004. In addition to this, he has also worked as a civil rights attorney in Chicago.

Obama’s political trail started as a senator in the Illinois Senate. He took on that responsibility from 1997 till 2004. He was defeated in the elections to the U.S House of representatives in 2000. But he was successful in the Democratic primary race in March 2004 for the post of US Senator from Illinois and he won accolades for his key note address in the Democratic National convention in 2004 which was telecast live throughout America.

Obama had a formidable opponent in Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic primaries held in February 2007 and once he passed that hurdle in the final elections, he was challenged by John McCain in the 2008 general election. His presidential inauguration was held on Jan 20, 2009. He was also bestowed with the Nobel Peace Prize of 2009.
