Andrew Jackson was born on March 15, 1767 and died on June 8, 1845. He was the President of the United States during the period 1829–1837. He was the seventh US President and prior to that he was military Governor of Florida (1821), and commanded the American army during the Battle of New Orleans in 1815.
The Jacksonian democracy derives its name from Andrew Jackson. He was an influential presence who was a master of American politics in the 1820s and 1830s. His increased political participation along with his high ambitions was what led to the formation of the Democratic Party in its modern form. His legacy is not fully blemish free. While he is looked upon as a savior of modern democracy and a proponent of individual liberty, his support of Indian removal and slavery is not really appreciated.
His tough attitude earned him the nickname of “Old Hickory." He centered his political career on developing Tennessee, and he was the first president who has been linked with the American border state.
